Obituary for Carol J Glover (Eiler)

On Thursday, May 6, Carol Jean Eiler Glover, loving wife and mother, passed away at the age of 76.

Carol was born on March 9, 1945 in Peru, Indiana to Ralph and Arvilla Eiler and grew up on the family dairy farm. She attended Manchester College for two years before spending three years serving with Brethren Volunteer Service in Germany and Austria, where she was active in the peace movement. Returning to the states, she received a BS from Boston University and an MS from the University of North Carolina, both in nursing. She worked as a Nurse Practitioner in family practice before teaching as a professor at the University of New Hampshire. On October 24, 1986, she married Michael Glover and they settled in Durham, NH, raising two beautiful daughters, Caitlin and Hannah.

Carol was energetic, intuitive, hard working and passionate about any cause she saw as just. She was devoted to her daughters, shepherding them through after-school sports and on to college. She led the local PTO and was an impassioned and active participant in local politics.
She was an avid reader and authored a memoir. She had recently resumed pottery, loving the artistic expression and community it offered. During the winter she snowshoed and during the summer she tended a large garden.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Ralph and Arvilla Eiler, and by her older sister Judy Devries. She is survived by her husband Michael and her daughters Caitlin and Hannah, and by her younger sister Barbara Patch. An online celebration of life will be held May 22, 2021, at 1 pm EDT.
