Obituary for Diane L Young (Huey)

Diane Lynn Young died peacefully on Friday, October 30th at Portsmouth Regional Hospital in
Portsmouth, NH.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, David Thomas Young of Nottingham, NH. Her
daughter Kristina Dela Sierra and fiancé Blain Morris of Fairbanks, Alaska. Her daughter
Stephanie Kinnison and husband Scott Kinnison of Nottingham NH. Her granddaughter Tawni
Dela Sierra and fiancé Shawn Agsalda, and grandson Austin Dela Sierra of Mililani, Hawaii.
Granddaughter Hannah Munck of Nottingham, NH, and great granddaughters Khloe and Piper
Agsalda. Plus many special nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her parents and
brother Gregory Huey.
Diane was born in Olean, NY December 15th, 1952, the daughter of Chester E. Huey and
Francis J. Huey. She graduated from Cuba Central School in Cuba, NY and furthered her
education at Olean Business Institute. She married her husband David in December of 1971
and moved to New Hampshire with David, Kristina and Stephanie in 1986 where they lived in
Milton and eventually Northwood. Diane worked as an Administrative Secretary at the
Northwood Town Hall where she was much beloved by her co-workers.
In September of 2017 Diane, along with her husband David, daughter Stephanie, son-in-law
Scott and granddaughter Hannah moved together to Nottingham, NH. Diane retired in 2019.
If one were to ask Diane what is important in life, her answer would be family, to have a
purpose in life, and her beloved rescue dog Annie. One of her purposes was her job which she
loved dearly. She excelled at her work, was reliable, and wonderful to work with. Recently a
past co-worker commented on how they never fully grasped how much Diane did until she had
retired. The kind of person to go the extra mile, not looking for extra recognition.
Diane’s love for her family was quite possibly her greatest attribute. Her love and devotion to
her husband David goes all the way back to their high school days in Cuba, NY. Her love for
her daughters was unwavering. Perhaps her greatest joy in recent years was from her
grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Despite family living in Alaska, Hawaii, New York and New Hampshire, Diane was able to
communicate closely with her family, helping keep her spirits up while dealing with growing
health issues.
Diane passed away at approximately 10am Friday morning. She was in the loving arms of her
daughter Stephanie.
In keeping friends and family safe there will be no services at this time.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the New Hampshire SPCA in honor of Diane.
