Obituary for Jean Marie MacDougall (MacDougall)

JEAN MARIE MACDOUGALL

BARRINGTON, NH: Jean Marie MacDougall, 89, of Berry River Road passed away at home on Friday, February 4, 2022 after a short illness.

She was born on February 18, 1932 in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada; the daughter of Thomas Stuart Petrie MacDougall of Upper Woodstock, NB and Christine Laura (MacBeath) MacDougall of Campbellton, NB.

“Jeannie” as she was widely known, married D. Gordon Mott of Dalhousie, NB, and raised her family in Fredericton, NB, Madison, CT and Dover, NH. She was a lifelong learner and graduated the University of New Hampshire with an Associate in Arts in 1976, and a Bachelor of Arts in 1982. She worked at many vocations including as a stenographer, a florist, and retired from the Oyster River Cooperative School District after many years as a school bus driver. She loved her kids on the bus route. Her passions included gardening and she experienced great joy growing roses; she loved sharing her most beautiful flower gardens. Another passion was sewing; she crafted and sold ornate and beautiful lamp shades through her business she called “The Shady Lady”. A loving, nurturing sister, mother, grandmother and friend, her influence will be felt for generations. We will love her and miss her for the rest of our lives.

Jeannie is survived by her two brothers and their families: Donald and his wife Lois MacDougall of Fredericton, NB; and Malcolm and his wife Joyce MacDougall of Rothesay, NB; her four sons and their families: David and Karen (Gage) Mott of Barrington, NH; Ian Mott and Linda Dares of Ganges, Salt Spring Island, BC; Guy Mott and Deanna English of Brooktondale, NY; and J. Dugald & Jude (Ostrowski) Mott of Rochester, NH; her cherished grandchildren: Jessica (Mott) Norman, Heather Mott, Nicole Peirce, Elizabeth Catalano, Lunaru Mott, Cochise Mott, David Mott, Noah Mott, Dugald Mott and Tanya Hart, 10 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends.

Jeannie was pre-deceased by her parents, and her life partner John “Jack” Leahy of Barrington, NH.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in the name of Jean Marie MacDougall to Pope Memorial Humane Society - Cocheco Valley, Dover, NH in honor of her lifetime love of animals, and to Barrington Fire & Rescue, Barrington, NH who are there to aid us in our most difficult times.

An outdoor Celebration of the Life of Jean Marie MacDougall will be held for family and friends in the spring.
