Obituary for Joanne M Allard (Cole)

On April 9, 2021 Joanne M. Allard died peacefully at home with her loving family by her side at the age of 80.
Joanne was born in East Boston, MA on August 9, 1940 to John and Florence (Sprague) Cole. She graduated from Peabody High school in 1958. Joanne was a dancer and danced all of her childhood through early adulthood. She danced and taught dance in Boston, MA and New York City. She tried out for the Rockets in New York City but due to her height did not meet the eligibility to be a Rocket. She married Edward P. Allardon August 21, 1960. They had four children, Dawn Marie, Little Eddie( deceased), Donald and Phillip. Joanne embraced being a stay at home mom and devoted wife. At age 40 she obtained her license as a nurses aid. She worked for 26 years at Epsom Manor as an LNA and Activities coordinator. She was awarded LNA of the year for her dedication and commitment to the residents at Epsom Health care. Joanneā€™s greatest passion was knitting. She was a master craftswoman who used her talents to make beautiful handknit items for family and friends. She belonged to several knitting groups and the Rockingham League of Craftsman. She worked with a group of knitters who provided mittens for children in grades 1-3 in the Northwood and Epsom elementary schools. While working at Epsom Manor she would knit 3-4 afghans every year for the annual resident raffle. Joanne was always willing to teach anyone the art of knitting. Joanne also loved spending summers in Maine and taking long drives to nowhere and everywhere with her beloved husband of 60 years. She especially loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Joanne was preceded in death by her father John and Mother Florence and her son Eddie. She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 60 years, Edward, three children Dawn Marie, Donald and Phillip, two daughter in laws Rachel and Amanda, six grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 7 sister in laws and six brother in laws. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday April 13, 2021 from 10:00am -12:00pm at Purdy Funeral Home 2 Concord Road, Lee, NH. A burial will take place immediately after at Harmony Cemetery, Central Street Georgetown, MA.
