Obituary for Nathaniel P Smith
Nathaniel Smith, a United State Marine and resident of Waterville, ME, died unexpectedly on April 28, 2021 in Northwoods, NH.
Nathaniel was born in Norfolk, VA on November 14, 1985 to Kirk and Brenda Smith. He graduated from Franklin High School in 2003, became a proud father in 2005 and joined the United States Marine Corps in August of 2008, (a title he earned and loved.) While in the Marines he traveled the country and the globe.
Nathaniel is survived by his daughter Cami Smith; his parents Brenda Smith her significant other Stephen Bechard and Kirk Smith his fiancé Kelly Koch; grandmother Nancy Lagueux; siblings Jeff Smith his wife Ashley and Dan Smith; two nieces and one nephew.
Predeceased by grandparents Manford and Natalie Smith, Richard Lagueux; Aunts Joanne Smith, Aunt Elaine Windrel, Uncle Jerry Christianson, Aunt Lorraine and Uncle Jr. Lizotte, Uncle Raymond and Aunt Shirley Merrow, Aunt Sherri Merrow; and cousin Michael Lizotte.
Nathaniel was a devoted Catholic, loved his family and an avid sports fan. He had a passion for crossword puzzles and was an enthusiast member of the Veterans writing and book group. He enjoyed Shakespeare plays (especially Macbeth) and playwriting. He loved to read and discuss books and had a natural curiosity about writing and storytelling. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
There will be a private Celebration of Life for close family and friends. In Lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to be made in Nathaniel’s memory to:
