We were so saddened to hear the news of Razel's death and want to extend our sincere condolences to Keith and the whole family. We have many fond memories of Razel, dating back to when she and Gail were among the 45 coeds in a class of 950 at MIT in the '60s. More recently, we have fond memories of you both visiting us while we lived in Paris. And most recently, we were happy to see you both at our 50th MIT reunion. We will cherish the photo we took of the 3 "class couples" who attended the reunion--all in our splendid red jackets. May her memory be a blessing. Gail and Mike Marcus

I will always remember two things the most about Razel: First, she gave me my first ever Berwick detention in 1984 for being out of dress code in 9th grade Earth Science, last room on the hall in the basement of the Commons. (She said she could see my undergarments, I said it was a tank top. She wasn't buying it.) Second, when I came back to Berwick and joined the faculty in 1995, she gave me a card with Dorothy and Toto on the front that said "I know you will do a great job, because you've got brains, courage and heart." That card still hangs over my desk and makes me smile when whatever brains, courage and heart I may have seem to be falling short. Razel was a mentor and friend. We had so much fun working on the Berwick musicals together. We both caught our breath in the same moment on Opening Night when Tony and Maria held perfect harmony in "Tonight." We laughed so much during the production of "On the Town." We wanted to kill the boy playing Tevya when we did "Fiddler" because he had learned only a fraction of his extensive lines two weeks before the show. Somehow, no matter the challenge or the complication, Razel made every show into theater magic. She was a fantastic combination of determined will and human grace.
